Mafraq, Dec.1 (Petra) – The Mafraq Development Corporation on Monday signed a new USD 150 million investment agreement with Traditional Apparel Company factories in King Hussein bin Talal Development Area.

It includes establishing a new garment factory in partnership with international manufacturers for production of global brands, said Mafraq Development Corporation Director General Liza Dughmi.

The project will create around 5,000 jobs for Jordanians in the three-year implementation phase.

Dughmi said the company continues to attract and facilitate investors’ operations in the development zone through competitive sales and pricing mechanisms, in addition to incentives offered by the Investment Environment Law.

Doghmi added that the zone’s strategic location and advanced investment environment make it a key destination for new business.

For his part, Classic Fashion Apparel Indian Industry Chairperson and Managing Director, Sanal Kumar, said Traditional Apparel Company operates nine factories across the Kingdom that employ more than 7,000 Jordanians.

Kumar noted that the company’s expansion plans currently focus on Mafraq, where it will launch two new factories, a garment factory employing 5,000 workers with Jordanians making up no less than 30 percent of the workforce, and a sports footwear facility under the "Snickers" brand, which will create around 8,000 jobs.

He added that the investment, to be completed in three years, will enhance the development zone’s attractiveness and draw more investments, in addition to generating wide employment opportunities for local people.
