24/ Petra, Jordan Tourism Board organise tour for GCC news agencies delegation to Ajloun, Jerash
Amman, August 18 (Petra) – The Jordan News Agency (Petra) and the Jordan Tourism Board organised a tour on Sunday for a delegation of news agencies from Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. The visit is part of an exchange programme between Petra and Gulf news agencies, coordinated with the GCC General Secretariat. The delegation toured several key tourist and archaeological sites in Ajloun and Jerash. Highlights included Ajloun Castle and its museum, the Ajloun cable car and the Ajloun Forest Reserve one of Jordan's leading eco-tourism destinations. In Jerash, the delegation visited the ancient Roman city and dined at "Dar Ne’meh" restaurant, a project run by the Princess Taghrid Foundation for Development and Training. The initiative supports women from across Jordan in marketing their culinary and handicraft products. Delegation members expressed admiration for the unique historical and natural landmarks in both governorates. They emphasised that Jordan's diverse tourism offerings reflect its rich cultural heritage and the country's commitment to preserving historical sites. They highlighted the distinctive experience of visiting Ajloun Castle and riding the cable car, noting that the lush surroundings of the Ajloun Forest Reserve add a valuable dimension to the Kingdom's ecotourism appeal. Regarding their visit to "Dar Ne’meh," the delegation praised the opportunity to enjoy authentic Jordanian cuisine and locally made products, emphasising the role of Jordanian women in supporting community development through tourism.
