16/ Epidemics Center Concludes Lab Leadership Training Workshop
Amman, Aug. 18 (Petra) -- The National Center for Epidemics and Disease Control concluded on Monday a six-day "Training of Trainers and Supervisors" workshop for the Global Laboratory Leadership Program, implemented with technical support from the Association of Public Health Laboratories (APHL) and logistical support from the World Health Organization (WHO). The workshop aimed to strengthen the leadership and teaching capacities of trainers who will lead future stages of the program, given their critical role in knowledge transfer and advancing modern laboratory leadership practices, the center said in a statement. The Global Laboratory Leadership Program is an international initiative designed to prepare laboratory leaders capable of improving service quality and strengthening health systems nationally and globally. Covering nearly 200 training hours per cycle, the program develops skills in strategic leadership, resource management, quality assurance, effective communication, and emergency readiness. Participants are required to complete practical projects evaluated by expert panels, according to the statement. Certificates were awarded to participants in a ceremony attended by Center President Adel Bilbeisi and APHL representatives. Discussions will continue with the program’s technical team, which includes representatives from various "One Health" approach sectors, in preparation for launching the first cohort by the end of this year with no fewer than 15 trainees from relevant ministries and sectors. The program was established through a partnership of six leading global institutions: WHO, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the APHL, the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH), and the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC). It represents a unique model of global cooperation to strengthen laboratory leadership capacities under the One Health approach. In a related move, the Center, in partnership with the University of Jordan, is working to accredit the program as an academic degree, furthering Jordan’s role as a regional hub for laboratory capacity building and health leadership development. //Petra// AO
