20/ DPA, UNRWA discuss infrastructure projects in Jordan's refugee camps

Amman, Apr. 27 (Petra) - Director-General of the Department of Palestinian Affairs (DPA) Rafiq Khirfan, and UNRWA Director of Operations Olaf Becker, on Sunday discussed several issues on the agency's work, mainly its current financial crisis and the accompanying challenges.

The two sides, in the presence of UNRWA Deputy Directors Kunal Dhar and Butros Janho, also discussed the infrastructure projects implemented by UNRWA in the Kingdom's refugee camps.

Discussions stressed the importance of enhancing joint coordination and planning to ensure the "efficient" implementation of these projects, which would have a "direct" impact on improving the refugees' living conditions, according to a DPA statement.

Additionally, both sides went over the issue of the camps' cleanliness, mainly in Baqa'a camp, urging the various stakeholders to maintain cooperation to address these challenges and work to develop "sustainable and effective" solutions.

Affirming the "deep-rooted" current DPA-UNRWA cooperation, Khirfan and Becker voiced their "keenness" to continue joint coordination in following up on priority issues to ensure the continued provision of "essential" services to Palestinian refugees.
