24/ Aqaba’s Sixth National Park project nears completion, says ASEZA chief

Aqaba, April 21 (Petra) – Around 90% of the infrastructure work on Aqaba’s Sixth National Park project has been completed, Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA) Chief Commissioner Nayef Fayez, said on Monday.

The park spans 220 dunums (22 hectares), with green spaces making up about 60% of the total area, Fayez said during an inspection tour of the site. He was accompanied by Abdullah Njad, ASEZA commissioner for the city and infrastructure.

The park will feature six main gates distributed across its perimeter, as well as water features, parking lots, and a variety of service and recreational facilities. These include three children’s play zones, six sports courts, an amphitheater, a pedestrian path encompassing the entire park, public seating areas, and modern restrooms.

Fayez described the park as one of the most important developmental and recreational projects in Aqaba, calling it the "green lung" of the city. He said it reflects ASEZA’s commitment to creating safe and sustainable recreational environments that enhance quality of life and strengthen the city’s appeal as a tourist destination for both domestic and international visitors.

He also stressed the importance of completing all phases of the project on schedule, calling the park a unique civic landmark and vital public space for local residents.
