13/ Jordan's Ancient Sites to Glow Green for World Heritage Day
Amman, April 18 (Petra) The Department of Antiquities will illuminate all major archaeological sites across the Kingdom in green light tonight, Friday, in celebration of World Heritage Day. In a statement, the department announced that this year's celebration theme is "Heritage at Risk from Disasters and Conflicts: Preparedness and Insights from 60 Years of ICOMOS Efforts," referring to the International Council on Monuments and Sites. Jordan observes World Heritage Day annually on April 18, a date established by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in 1983. The observance aims to promote awareness about the importance of cultural heritage diversity worldwide and to reinforce the concept of heritage as belonging to all humanity. //Petra// AA
