Maan, April 17 (Petra) -- The Australian Embassy opened a historical photo exhibition on Wednesday at the Founding King's Palace in Maan, celebrating 50 years of diplomatic relations between Australia and Jordan.

Running until April 23, the exhibition highlights key moments in the evolution of Jordan-Australia relations, beginning in 1918 and showcasing the growing cooperation across various sectors, including defense, education, culture, technology, water, and agriculture.

Ambassador Lynch, speaking to Jordan News Agency (Petra), described the exhibition as a celebration of over a century of friendship between the two nations. He noted that the event marks the 50th anniversary of formal diplomatic ties and underlined the importance of cultural exchanges in bringing the two peoples closer.

He also reflected on how the partnership has flourished, particularly following the official visit of King Abdullah II and Queen Rania to Australia in 2016, which reinforced ties in academic, cultural, and humanitarian fields, including support for Jordan’s efforts in hosting Syrian refugees and assisting Gaza.

Ali Krishan, Jordan's former ambassador to Australia, praised the significance of holding the anniversary event at the Founding King's Palace in Maan, pointing out the symbolic value of the location, where the Jordanian state was established.

He also reflected on the milestones in bilateral relations, which began in 1975 with the visit of the late King Hussein and grew stronger after the 2016 visit of King Abdullah II and Queen Rania to Australia. Krishan also mentioned ongoing talks with an Australian company about renewable energy projects in Maan.

Muayyad Abu Rumman, CEO of the Jordan Heritage Revival Company, emphasized that holding the event at Maan, "the birthplace of the nation's message and renaissance," aligns with the royal vision to preserve Jordan's heritage. He highlighted that the exhibition serves as a cultural bridge, connecting the past with the present and showcasing the enduring strength of the Jordanian-Australian relationship.

The exhibition, which celebrates a long history of mutual friendship and cooperation, remains open to the public throughout the week.
