76/ JPA voices support for security services after foiled plot

Amman, April 15 (Petra) – The Jordan Press Association (JPA) on Tuesday expressed pride in the efforts of the Kingdom’s security apparatus, reaffirming the media community’s unwavering support for the Jordanian state under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II in confronting any threat to the nation’s security and stability.

In a statement, the JPA said it had closely followed the details revealed by the General Intelligence Department (GID) regarding the foiling of criminal plots targeting Jordan’s security. The association praised the vigilance of the security services, whose constant readiness prevented serious harm.

The intelligence findings, the statement noted, exposed a looming and grave threat that included plans to manufacture rockets using both local and imported materials, possession of explosives and firearms, the concealment of a ready-to-launch missile, and the development of drones. The plot also involved recruiting and training operatives inside and outside the Kingdom to carry out acts of sabotage and chaos, endangering national security and social cohesion.

The JPA hailed this "strategic-level" achievement as a testament to the professionalism and precision of Jordan’s intelligence services, working in coordination with other security and military bodies as a unified shield against threats and external ambitions.

On behalf of its general assembly and council, the JPA reiterated its pride in the country’s security achievements and reaffirmed the commitment of the press and media community to stand behind the Jordanian state and its leadership in safeguarding the nation.
