75/ Jordanian institutions, tribes condemn foiled plot targeting national security
Amman, April 15 (Petra) – Jordanian officials, institutions, and social groups have strongly condemned what they described as a criminal plot aimed at destabilizing the Kingdom and threatening national security. In a statement, the Integrity and Anti-Corruption Commission praised the "Knights of Wright" – a term referring to the General Intelligence Department (GID) – for thwarting what it called a conspiracy against Jordan’s stability and resources. The Commission expressed deep appreciation for the GID's vigilance and commitment to safeguarding the country. The Commission's board condemned the plot "in the strongest terms," urging the judiciary to take firm action so that the perpetrators serve as an example to others who may seek to harm the nation. The board reaffirmed its unwavering support for His Majesty King Abdullah II’s leadership. Hameed Bataineh, head of the Jordan Forum for Policy Dialogue, described the plot as "an assault on the minds of our youth and a betrayal of national identity." In a statement, the forum called on Jordanians to remain loyal to the flag and true to their national identity, adding that "Jordan is no place for mercenaries or chaos." The forum warned of external attempts to infiltrate Jordanian society through radical ideologies, suspicious funding, and misleading slogans, but said the country is protected by the GID’s steadfast officers, whom it referred to as "a shield that does not bend and a sword that does not rest." The Arab Revolt Knights Club also denounced the foiled plan, which the GID had announced it disrupted before execution. The club said the aim was to incite unrest and violence within Jordan. Dherar Ghaleb Al-Adwan, the club’s administrative head, said such acts constitute a direct threat to Jordan’s unity and sovereignty. He stressed the successful operation by Jordanian intelligence demonstrates the agency’s sharp vigilance and professionalism. He reaffirmed that Jordanians stand firmly behind their armed forces and security agencies in protecting the Kingdom. Al-Adwan condemned the plot as "cowardly and lawless," and reaffirmed full solidarity with the GID and security services, praising their sacrifices in defense of the nation. Jerash University also issued a statement affirming its support for the Hashemite leadership, the Jordan Armed Forces, and the GID, condemning the dismantled cell’s plans to incite chaos and undermine national stability. University President Mohammad Khalaileh lauded the GID as "a beacon for the righteous and a fire for the aggressors," and called on Jordanians to rally around national unity and support the security forces in confronting extremism. He said the university would educate students about the dangers of extremist ideologies and the importance of preserving national values and stability. Likewise, Jadara University condemned the uncovered plot, which reportedly included plans to manufacture rockets. The university praised the GID and all security agencies for their "heroic efforts," reaffirming its rejection of extremism and support for national unity under His Majesty King Abdullah II. Yarmouk University expressed its appreciation for the armed forces and intelligence department personnel, describing their efforts as a cornerstone of national stability. University President Islam Massad said the foiled plot would only strengthen Jordanians' resolve and unity behind the Hashemite leadership. He urged that those involved in the scheme be held accountable, emphasizing that Jordan will remain resilient under King Abdullah II and Crown Prince Hussein, and under the protection of the country’s armed forces and security agencies. In a separate statement, the Jaghbir tribe condemned the "criminal plan" targeting Jordan’s internal security and national institutions. The tribe stressed the need for firm action against those behind the plot and praised the GID’s efforts. The residents of Wadi Musa-Bani Laith in Amman also denounced the foiled plan and expressed pride in the armed forces and intelligence officers, calling for strong action against those who threaten Jordan’s stability. The Barmawi tribe expressed full support for the security forces and applauded the GID for uncovering the plot. The tribe reiterated loyalty to His Majesty King Abdullah II and the Hashemite leadership, stressing Jordan would not become a base for extremist movements. "We remain faithful soldiers to our country, our army, and our Hashemite leadership," their statement read, affirming the Kingdom’s enduring Arab and Islamic principles. They referenced Jordan’s historic role in battles across Palestine and the Golan Heights, highlighting the sacrifices of the Jordanian Armed Forces in defense of Arab causes. //Petra// AF
