45/ SCC Receives Terrorism Cases After Prosecution Concludes Investigations
Amman, April 16 (Petra) -- The State Security Court has received several terrorism-related cases after the Public Prosecution completed legal proceedings against a number of detainees accused of manufacturing weapons, attempting to disturb public order, and threatening national security, according to Prosecutor General Brigadier General Military Judge Ahmad Talat Shahaltouq. According to the indictments, defendants Abdullah Hisham and Moath Al-Ghanem were charged with the felony of manufacturing weapons with the intent of unlawful use in violation of Articles (3/W) and (7/C) of the Anti-Terrorism Law No. 55 of 2006 and its amendments, and in reference to Article (7/W) of the same law. Defendant Mohsen Al-Ghanem was charged with the felony of aiding and abetting in the manufacture of weapons for unlawful use, also in violation of Articles (3/W) and (7/C) of the same law. The three defendants, Abdullah Hisham, Moath Al-Ghanem, and Mohsen Al-Ghanem, were additionally charged with the felony of committing acts that would disturb public order and endanger the safety and security of society, in violation of Articles (2) and (7/T) of the Anti-Terrorism Law No. 55 of 2006 and its amendments. In the drone manufacturing case, the State Security Prosecutor charged defendants Ali Qassem, Abdulaziz Haroun, Abdullah Al-Haddar, and Ahmad Khalifah with committing acts that would disturb public order and endanger community safety and security, also in violation of Articles (2) and (7/T) of the Anti-Terrorism Law. In two recruitment-related cases, the defendants Khader Abdulaziz, Ayman Ajjawi, Mohammad Saleh, Marwan Al-Hawamdeh, and Anas Abu Awad were charged with the felony of engaging in acts that would disturb public order and endanger the safety and security of society, in accordance with the same articles of the Anti-Terrorism Law. A separate case involving the transport and storage of explosives and automatic weapons smuggled from abroad, as well as the concealment of a missile in a suburb of Amman, is currently before the State Security Court and has entered the defense evidence phase, with four defendants standing trial. On Tuesday, Minister of Government Communication and Government Spokesperson Mohmmad Momani announced the arrest of 16 individuals involved in multiple cases that sought to undermine national security and incite chaos within the Kingdom. //Petra// RZ
