27/ Gov't 'keen' to attract Arab, foreign investments: Gharaibeh

Amman, April 16 (Petra) - Minister of Investment and Acting Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply, Muthanna Gharaibeh, said the government is "keen" to attract Arab and foreign investments in all fields.

Inaugurating the Jordanian Industries Exhibition, organized by the Amman Chamber of Industry (ACCI) on Tuesday, Gharaibeh expressed the ministry's "readiness" to provide the "necessary" support by streamlining procedures, removing obstacles, and developing policies that support investment and expansion of the food industry and other sectors, in cooperation with government agencies and industry chambers.

During the event, representatives of participating industrial companies and a trade delegation from the Lulu Group International, headed by Salim VI, Chief Operating and Strategy Officer, held joint business talks.

The minister added that the Kingdom is looking forward to opening a Lulu center in Jordan to supply the group's global markets from Jordan, similar to the company's previous experiences in the United States and Europe.

Lulu Group International, which has branches in 23 countries worldwide, employs over 75,000 workers and its annual sales reach $10 billion.

Meanwhile, Fathi Jaghbir, Chairman of Amman and Jordan Chambers of Industry, said the discussion comes as a "positive" outcome of the visits organized by ACI for Jordanian industrialists to multiple Arab and friendly countries, in cooperation with the government.

These visits featured joint business meetings for representatives of Jordan's industrial companies and officials from major commercial markets in these countries.

Jaghbir noted visits to a number of target markets would continue to be organized to explore "new" destinations for Jordanian products, which have proven their "quality in all countries that are exported to."

Jaghbir stated Jordanian industrial exports can confront challenges of global trade by entering fresh markets, enhancing "competitiveness" of national products by reducing costs, and benefiting from trade agreements and signing others with new countries with "promising non-traditional" markets.

A total of 82 Jordanian industrial companies participated in the exhibition from various sectors, as 49 showcased food industries, while 20 others exhibited chemical and cosmetics industries and 5 displayed plastic industries. Additionally, 3, 1 , and 4 firms represented leather, engineering and paper industries, respectively.
