25/ Initiative launched to unleash visually impaired children's art creativity
Amman, April 16 (Petra) – Minister of Culture, Mustafa Rawashdeh, inaugurated the students' art exhibition of "Scent of Color" Initiative on Tuesday evening at Darat Suhail in Amman's Jabal al-Lweibdeh, marking Jordan National Flag Day. The initiative, supervised by visual artist, Suhail Baqaeen, aims to showcase talents of blind and autistic children, as well as peers with Down syndrome, and integrate these target groups into society. During the event, which continues until end of April, the participating children, aged 6 to 18, showcased artworks that expressed "symbolism" of the Jordanian flag. Baqaeen and his team are also training the benficiary groups on mastering diverse color techniques, as a "daily interactive" activity during the exhibition. In a statement to "Petra," Baqaeen said the initiative represents an "interactive model" for integrating people with special needs into society by discovering talents of the visually impaired children, with focus on drawing-driven training. Baqaeen added: "The step seeks to care for people with visual disabilities, who have the right to express their hopes and sentiments by breaking their fear barrier and integrating them into their communities." //Petra// AG
