58/ Business leaders hail Intelligence Department’s foiling of terror plots

Amman, April 15 (Petra) – Jordanian economic stakeholders have praised the General Intelligence Department (GID) for thwarting sabotage plots that aimed to destabilize the country and threaten its security.

President of the Association of Owners of Clearance and Transport Companies, Dheifallah Abu Aqoula, said the details revealed by the GID regarding plots under surveillance since 2021 highlight the serious threats facing Jordan and reflect the high level of professionalism and vigilance of its security agencies.
"These achievements reinforce citizens’ and national sectors’ confidence especially the cargo and clearance sector in the security institutions, which continue to stand as a steadfast shield protecting Jordan’s safety," he said.

Abu Aqoula stressed the private sector's unwavering support for the Hashemite leadership, led by His Majesty King Abdullah II, and for all legal and security measures taken to safeguard the country. He expressed full confidence in the Jordanian judiciary and the State Security Court to deal firmly and fairly with any threat to national security.

He emphasized the importance of national unity during this sensitive period and called for greater awareness and solidarity with state institutions to preserve Jordan’s stability and prosperity.
The Jordanian Contractors Association also condemned the plots, describing them as criminal acts aimed at inciting chaos and material destruction within the kingdom, which run counter to humanitarian and Islamic principles.

President of the Jordanian Businessmen Association, Hamdi Tabbaa, reaffirmed the association’s full support for the GID’s efforts in foiling terrorist plots aimed at undermining the nation’s peace and stability.
Tabbaa praised the vigilance of Jordan’s security forces, whose actions prevented the execution of plans that could have endangered lives and public and private property. He noted that tracking the plots since 2021 showcases the professionalism and tireless efforts of the GID in maintaining national security.
He called the arrest of 16 suspects a significant accomplishment in confronting attempts to destabilize the country and undermine national unity.

Tabbaa also commended the dedication and bravery of security personnel, reiterating the association’s readiness to support the state’s efforts in countering any threats to the national economy and sustainable development.

The Jordanian Contractors Association, in a statement, applauded the operation and said it took pride in the security forces who risk their lives for the safety of the homeland and its people.

Association President Fuad Al-Duwairi said that confronting extremist elements requires reinforcing national unity and coordinating efforts socially, politically, and in the security field.

"Let it be known to those who harbor hatred that Jordan will remain a stronghold and safe haven under the Hashemite banner, its Arab army, and the unity of its people," he said, calling for a firm response to anyone who attempts to harm the nation’s peace.

He urged all Jordanians to stand united against malicious groups spreading destructive ideologies and reaffirmed confidence in the Jordan Armed Forces and security agencies to preserve the Kingdom’s security and stability.
