14/ Customs Foil Attempt to Smuggle 650 Kilograms of Hashish at King Hussein Bridge
Amman, April 15 (Petra) – Customs officers at the King Hussein Bridge Customs Center, in coordination with the Anti-Narcotics Department and other security agencies, foiled an attempt to smuggle 650 kilograms of hashish concealed inside a shipment of building stones entering Jordan. According to a statement issued Tuesday by the Jordan Customs, suspicions were raised about the shipment, prompting a detailed inspection. Upon examination, the drugs were discovered hidden within the stones. Authorities confiscated the narcotics in preparation for legal action against those involved, in accordance with procedures established by the Anti-Narcotics Department. The Jordan Customs affirmed that its personnel, in collaboration with security and oversight agencies, continue to intensify efforts at all border points to combat smuggling, particularly of narcotics, given their significant threat to Jordan’s economic and social stability. //Petra// AO
