43/ EU delegation visits Hashemite Commission for Disabled Soldiers
Amman, April 14 (Petra) – Under the patronage of HH Prince Mired bin Raad, chief chamberlain and chairman of the Hashemite Commission for Disabled Soldiers (HCDS), a special event was held on Monday for military personnel injured in service from Jordan and European countries, in partnership with the European Union Delegation in Amman. Prince Mired emphasized the importance of engaging with the outside world and strengthening partnership and cooperation relations to support the efforts of the HCDS and international organizations in caring for and rehabilitating injured military personnel. He also praised efforts of the European Union Delegation to enhance bilateral relations across various fields. European Union Ambassador to Jordan, Pierre Christophe Chatzisavas, noted that the project represents a modest contribution to the physical and psychological rehabilitation journey, offering injured military personnel from Europe and Jordan an opportunity to exchange experiences and share best practices, thereby contributing uniquely to strengthening relations between the EU and Jordan. The delegation, which included officials from the EU Delegation as well as Belgium, France, and Sweden, received a briefing from HCDS' Director General, Moran Turk, on its role and key duties in providing care and rehabilitation services to injured military personnel and their families. The delegation toured the facilities and departments of the HCDS' headquarters to learn more about its services, expressing their appreciation for the high standard of these services. The visit was attended by members of the HCDS' Board of Directors, Director General of the Royal Medical Services Brigadier General Youssef Zreikat, senior officers from the Royal Medical Services Directorate, and a group of injured military personnel and HCDS staff. The event included a workshop titled "Invictus," featuring a group of injured military personnel representing veteran European soldiers from Belgium, France, and Sweden, alongside their Jordanian counterparts. The workshop aimed to enhance the exchange of knowledge and expertise between relevant European entities, the HCDS, and local stakeholders, highlighting individual recovery experiences and providing a platform to share best practices and operational protocols. As part of the ongoing activities, the event will be followed by field visits and awareness sessions at a local school on physical and psychological disabilities, where experiences will be exchanged between generations on sports and cultural activities. //Petra// AF
