42/ Tourism Ministry, DoS discuss ways to develop TSA in Jordan
Amman, April 14 (Petra) – A coordination meeting held at the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, led by Minister Lina Annab, and attended by Haidar Freihat, Director General of the Department of Statistics (DoS), focused on ways to develop the Tourism Satellite Account (TSA) in Jordan. According to a statement from the ministry on Monday, the meeting aimed to enhance institutional collaboration and improve the mechanisms for collecting and analyzing data related to the tourism sector. Annab emphasized the importance of this cooperation, highlighting that data collection is one of the key areas that could position Jordan as a regional leader, particularly given the country's deep and accurate understanding of the components of its tourism sector. She noted that completing the TSA study, in collaboration with the DoS, would cement Jordan's position as a model in this field, especially as there is a lack of specialized research centers for tourism sector analysis in the Middle East, providing Jordan with a unique opportunity to play an active role in sharing knowledge and expertise with other countries. For his part, Freihat underlined the significance of the meeting as a step toward strengthening institutional integration between stakeholders in the tourism sector. He pointed out that Jordan has the necessary resources to become a regional reference in tourism data analysis. He also explained that the DoS would provide the required statistical data in coordination with various partners, alongside conducting surveys and studies supporting the Tourism Satellite Account, including the inbound and outbound visitor surveys. At the conclusion of the meeting, both parties emphasized the importance of enhancing technical coordination and forming joint working teams to follow up on the necessary steps to develop the Tourism Satellite Account, including updating data collection tools and establishing clear operational mechanisms to ensure the accuracy and comprehensiveness of information. //Petra// AF
