Amman, April 14 (Petra) -- Minister of Agriculture Khaled Hneifat met on Monday with Sami Masnat, the CEO of Government Investments and Suhaib Sarair of the Joseph Court and Studies. The meeting aimed to discuss the Ministry's active role in enhancing major agricultural projects. Hneifat emphasised the Ministry's commitment to bolstering the food sector through the Food Industries Stimulation Project aimed at supporting industrial and development cities as well as municipalities. A recent agreement was signed with Diamond International Investment Company to establish a special free zone, facilitating food supply support as part of the project. The Ministry is advancing additional agricultural development projects designed to tackle issues of poverty and unemployment, while carefully considering water consumption for the initiatives. A primary goal is to achieve self-sufficiency in key agricultural products, with a preference for current public projects over alternative options. As per Masnat's recommendations, the company will oversee government investment projects and engage in further initiatives. The Ministry of Agriculture has been increasingly active in executing various agricultural projects and exploring investment opportunities for small-scale ventures. This includes the ongoing development of a sugar beet factory project. Masnat noted that the company is looking into international investment opportunities and is conducting studies relevant to sports projects, aiming to craft investment strategies that promote success in the agricultural industry. The company's investment portfolio currently stands at approximately JOD15 million, with aspirations to venture into more agricultural opportunities. During the conference, attention was drawn to the involvement of the Ministry's Qatar Investment Committee, which provides insights into potential agricultural projects and opportunities for shareholders within the company. //Petra// AK
