32/ Jordan takes part in Arab League workshop on AI, Media
Cairo, April 13 (Petra) Jordan participated on Sunday in a workshop titled "Media and Artificial Intelligence: Opportunities and Challenges," organized by the Strategic Research and Studies Department of the Arab League in Cairo. Representing Jordan at the event was Alaa Zyoud, media adviser to the permanent mission, who attended both sessions and participated in the ensuing discussions. The workshop, which featured ten research papers, served as a platform for exchanging ideas and expertise on the opportunities and challenges posed by artificial intelligence (AI), with participation from a wide range of experts and specialists across the Arab world. Attendees also included researchers and academics from media and communication faculties at several Egyptian universities. The first session focused on how AI can enhance media operations and audience engagement, while the second addressed the future of journalism and strategic adaptation to AI, particularly in areas such as data privacy, the fight against misinformation, and the impact of AI on jobs in the media industry. In opening remarks, Assistant Secretary-General and Head of the Media and Communication Sector, Ambassador Ahmed Rashid Khattabi, emphasized that media is undergoing an unprecedented transformation driven by rapid AI advancements, which are reshaping the landscape in ways unimaginable just a few years ago. //Petra// AF
