18/ Awqaf minister inaugurates 46th Amman Message conference

Amman, April 13 (Petra) – Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Mohammad Khalaileh on Sunday inaugurated the 46th International Scientific Session on the Explanation of the Contents of the Amman Message.

The event, which is organized by King Abdullah II Institute for the Training of Imams and Preachers, saw participation of scholars and thinkers representing 40 Arab and foreign countries.

Addressing the conference, Khalaileh said Amman Message, launched by His Majesty King Abdullah II in 2004, reflects Islam's moderate principles in facilitating life transactions, alleviating hardship on people in need, and achieving religious and worldly interests.

The minister added that the message represents a "global human and moral charter for peaceful coexistence."

Jordan, he noted, has assumed responsibility of defending Islam and explaining the eternal contents of the Amman Message to clarify Islam's true nature, reflecting Jordan's 'firm" approach.

The minister noted the Hashemite role in conveying the message of Islam to all peoples, which has been Jordan's approach since the reign of the founding King Abdullah I and continues with His Majesty King Abdullah II, who has never hesitated to emphasize the role of Islam in building human civilization and contributing to its development.

Speaking on behalf this year's participating countries, Dean of the Faculty of Sharia and Law at Alauddin State Islamic University Makassar Indonesia, Dr. Abd Rauf Muhammad Amin, underlined the importance of Amman Message as a "comprehensive" call amid confused concepts and multiple interpretations.

Amin noted Amman Message, which enjoys the King's support, has become a "beacon for the Islamic world and a symbol of moderation and balance."
