  13/ KHCF launches 5th edition of Cancer research Award

Amman, Apr. 13 (Petra) - King Hussein Cancer Foundation (KHCF) launched the 5th edition of King Hussein Cancer Research Award, established by HRH Princess Ghida Talal, Chair of the Board of Trustees of the King Hussein Cancer Foundation and Centre in 2020.

The award aims to advance cancer research in the Arab world and grasp cancer characteristics in the region, which would enable Arab nations to confront and overcome this disease by integrating "advanced" scientific methods, according to a KHCF statement.

Under various categories, "Lifetime Achievement Award" at regional and global levels is granted, while " Emerging Researcher Award" honors early-career researchers aged 45 and under for their "influential and innovative" contributions to cancer studies.

Additionally, the "Promising Researcher Award" will support two research proposals conducted in the Arab world by talented young researchers.

The Professional Development Program for Excellence in Cancer Care category honors programs affiliated with universities, academic institutions, or accredited hospitals in cancer treatment in the Arab world.

The statement announced applications for Arab researchers can be submitted via www.kinghusseincanceraward.jo and will be open until June 15.

Last year, 272 researchers from 28 countries applied for the award, as their applications were assessed by an ad hoc jury based on scientific research criteria.
