11/ Gender Expert Qualifier Course Launches at Armed Forces Hotel

Amman, April 13 (Petra) – The "Gender Expert Qualifier" course commenced Sunday at the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army Hotel, in cooperation with Austria, the Netherlands, and the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women) in Jordan.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, the Director of Military Women's Affairs highlighted the longstanding support for military women, beginning under the leadership of His Majesty the late King Hussein bin Talal and continuing under His Majesty King Abdullah II.

She noted that the Directorate of Military Women’s Affairs was among the first national institutions to launch a gender mainstreaming strategy, serving as a guiding framework for advancing the objectives of Jordan's first and second national action plans to implement United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325 on women, peace, and security.

The five-day course is designed to prepare qualified gender experts capable of incorporating gender perspectives into various military and operational contexts.

The course brings together personnel from the Jordan Armed Forces and national security agencies, alongside participants from Lebanon, Egypt, Tunisia, Morocco, the Sultanate of Oman, and Canada. It covers a range of topics related to gender integration and the empowerment of women within military institutions.
