Moscow, April 12 (Petra) – Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Saturday that the United States recognizes the need to resolve the issue of territory as part of a broader diplomatic settlement to the conflict in Ukraine.

Speaking at a press conference, Lavrov said, "The only path to resolving the crisis and achieving sustainable peace in Ukraine is to address the root causes of the conflict and Russia’s national security concerns."

He added that Moscow and Washington are discussing the possibility of joint initiatives in this regard, noting that the proposal came from the U.S. side and that Russia had not rejected it.
