10/ Agreement to launch Platform headquarters in South sealed

Amman, April 12 (Petra) – Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship Sami Smeirat Saturday signed a cooperation agreement with Injaz organization to establish the main headquarters of the Platform technology center in Aqaba, with additional branches in Ma'an, Karak, and Tafilah Governorates, as part of the "Youth, Technology, and Jobs" project.

The center will provide coworking spaces, training programs, and networking and collaboration opportunities targeting freelancers, entrepreneurs, startups, and civil society organizations, according to a ministry statement.

It also focuses on supporting freelancing and digital transformation in the targeted regions through creating an innovation- and entrepreneurship-friendly environment, it said.

Smeirat, who signed the deal with Injaz CEO Dima Bibi, said setting up such centers is at the core of the ministry's strategy to promote innovation and create sustainable job opportunities.

The project will enhance the digital skills of youth and women, especially in underprivileged areas, and boost their contribution to the national digital economy, he said.

For her part, Bibi underlined the commitment of Injaz, a leading not-for-profit organization focusing on youth economic empowerment through education and entrepreneurship, to providing quality training programs that meet the needs of the labor market and support youth talent, in partnership with civil society organizations in southern governorates.

The project will generate job opportunities through supporting small enterprises and freelance work, enhancing local digital skills and stimulating new investments in the technology and outsourcing sectors, which will positively impact the economy of the region, according to the ministry.

The Platform is in line with the Economic Modernization Vision and the National Digital Transformation Plan, reflecting the government's commitment to building a comprehensive and sustainable knowledge economy across the Kingdom, it pointed out.
