Amman, November 20 (Petra) – The Amman Chamber of Commerce hosted a Tunisian trade mission on Wednesday, featuring several commercial and industrial companies from various sectors.

The mission aimed to introduce Tunisian products to importers and traders in Jordan. The event was organized by the Tunisian Embassy in the Kingdom and the Tunisian Export Promotion Center.

According to a statement from the Chamber, the mission facilitated meetings between Jordanian importers, traders, distributors, and Tunisian exporters.

Nabil Khatib, the First Vice President of the Chamber, highlighted the depth of Tunisian-Jordanian relations, describing them as a model for joint Arab cooperation. He emphasized the importance of trade missions in fostering knowledge exchange, expertise sharing, and improving the competitiveness of businesses.

Khatib also noted that although trade exchanges between the two countries are still modest, there is potential for growth. He stated that the volume of trade between Jordan and Tunisia reached about 20 million Jordanian dinars from January to August 2024. Jordanian exports mainly consisted of chemical industries, plastics, textiles, leather goods, metals, food products, plant products, and electrical appliances.

The Tunisian Ambassador to Jordan, Mufida Zaribi, commended the Chamber for hosting the mission and emphasized the strong bilateral relations. She announced that a Tunisian food products exhibition will be held in Jordan in February 2025, followed by a Tunisian-Jordanian economic forum in conjunction with the 10th session of the Jordanian-Tunisian Joint Higher Committee. Additionally, she mentioned plans for future trade missions between the two countries.

Zaribi underscored the need for both countries' private sectors to play a more active role in strengthening trade relations and increasing trade exchange, which remains below potential.
