29/ Ceremony Highlights Veterinary Hospital, Rehabilitation Center

Amman, November 20 (Petra) – An introductory ceremony was held on Wednesday to highlight a veterinary hospital and rehabilitation center affiliated with the Jordan National K9 Center (JNK9C), bringing together representatives from the veterinary medical sector, regional and international organizations, the armed forces, and security services.

The ceremony aimed to foster collaboration among stakeholders in the veterinary health sector, enhance the quality of pet care, and position Jordan as a regional and global leader in veterinary health. It also sought to promote knowledge sharing and the provision of advanced veterinary services.

Minister of Agriculture Khaled Hneifat, who patronized the event, stated that the veterinary hospital and rehabilitation center were established to offer comprehensive and high-quality veterinary care for pets. This initiative, he noted, would help control zoonotic diseases and curb their spread, thereby contributing to public health.

Hneifat emphasized the hospital's role in supporting national security by maintaining police dogs, which serve as vital assets in defense operations, ensuring safety, and enhancing Jordan’s security framework.

Director General of the National Center for Police Dogs, Asem Hayasat, underscored the center's mission as an independent body overseeing the training and provision of police dogs for security units. He highlighted its efforts to train personnel responsible for the dogs’ care and operational readiness.

Hayasat added that the veterinary hospital aligns with the global "One Health" approach, addressing zoonotic diseases and enhancing public health. It also aims to improve the capabilities of Jordanian veterinarians by organizing scientific training programs.

During the event, Hayasat announced the launch of two scientific courses on pet disease diagnosis in December. The first will be held at the JNK9C, while the second will take place in collaboration with the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the Jordan University of Science and Technology.

Established under the patronage of His Majesty King Abdullah II on July 29, 2020, the JNK9C is a pioneering institution in the Middle East, that serves as a supervisory and certification body for police dog security agencies in Jordan while operating as an independent entity.
