Cairo, November 20 (Petra) - Jordanian Ambassador to Egypt, Amjad Adaileh, on Wednesday discussed with the Egyptian Minister of Endowments, Dr. Osama Al-Azhari, ways to enhance joint cooperation in religious fields, in line with the two countries' "brotherly and historic" ties.

Adaileh stressed Jordanian and Egyptian leaderships' relations have reached "advanced and strategic" stages and reflect brotherhood, mutual respect and "solid" decade-long ties.

During the meeting, the two sides went over Jordan-Egypt coordination in serving the Palestinian cause, role of the two countries' endowment ministries in shedding light and serving the Palestinian issue and efforts to refute false and misleading narratives about Palestine, which breach legitimate rights, the deep-rooted historical status and the unwavering legitimacy of this central issue.

Adaileh presented the Kingdom's role, under His Majesty King Abdullah II's directives, towards the holy sites in the city of Jerusalem, under the historical Hashemite custodianship.

In this context, he referred to the role of the Jordan-run Jerusalem Waqf Department in serving and caring for the holy sites, as the body with the exclusive authority to manage all the affairs of Al-Aqsa Mosque.

Meanwhile, the Egyptian minister said the strong bilateral relations reflect the two countries' deep and historic ties.

Al-Azhari also pointed to the Jordanian-Egyptian ongoing coordination on Arab issues, especially the "firm and identical" position on the Palestinian issue.

He praised the positions of Jordan and its Hashemite leadership in supporting rights of the Palestinian people and serving Jerusalem's sanctities.

Egypt, he noted, provided about 85% of the total global aid to the Gaza Strip, which reflects Cairo's permanent commitment to providing support to the Palestinian people in their ordeal.
