23/ Over 300,000 Jordanians Participate in "Urdunna Jannah" Tourism Program

Amman, Nov. 20 (Petra) - The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities announced on Wednesday that more than 300,000 people have participated in the "Urdunna Jannah" (Our Jordan is Paradise) domestic tourism program since the beginning of 2024 through mid-November.

Implemented in collaboration with the Jordan Tourism Board, the program offers free transportation via modern tourist buses to numerous destinations across the Kingdom. It also provides subsidized trip packages tailored to Jordanian families, ensuring affordability and accessibility.

The ministry noted that it continuously reviews and enhances the program's services, adapting to regional circumstances by expanding its list of destinations and prioritizing support for tourism sectors impacted by recent challenges.

So far, the program has utilized 10,000 tourist buses and involved 170 tourism offices, 111 restaurants, and 89 facilities, including hotels and camps.

Special initiatives were introduced to support Petra’s tourism sector, which has been affected by a decline in international visitors. A dedicated Petra package includes accommodations at five-star or other hotels, meals, heritage events, and visits to Aqaba, with a trip fee of up to JD27.5 per person.

The package saw a surge in demand, with over 2,000 participants visiting Petra in the first week of November alone and 12,000 since last August.

Ajloun Governorate emerged as the program's top destination, attracting approximately 97,000 visitors by mid-November. The program's success, supported by the Cabinet, has mitigated regional challenges’ impact on the tourism sector, with the ministry and the Jordan Tourism Board subsidizing more than 50 percent of trip costs.
