41/ JRF marks World Day for Prevention of Child Abuse Addressing Safe Use of Technology
Amman, November 19 (Petra) -- The Jordan River Foundation (JRF) organised an awareness event marking World Day for the Prevention of Child Abuse at the Queen Rania Family and Child Centre (QRFCC) addressing technology and child protection. The event targeted 150 children, adolescents, and women, divided into groups based on age-appropriate activities. The event comprised an educational lecture, a Salhoof puppet show performance, smart board art and technology-based activities. Participants learned skills related to protecting children against abuse through the safe use of technology. Children were educated on methods of online protection and ways to prevent and recognize online abuse. Parents were introduced to warning signs that may indicate potential risks of child abuse or harassment related to the use of technology. QRFCC's focus on technology and abuse this year is based on beneficiary needs addressed through training and lectures held at the centre throughout the years. This year's activities are designed to strengthen the understanding of prevention against online sexual abuse and exploitation for children, mothers, and youth. During 2024, JRF empowered over 88,000 beneficiaries through its Child Safety Programme. The interventions and activities offered by the foundation's community centres, including QRFCC, focus on child safety and empowering individuals and local communities. QRFCC is one of the main interactive spaces through which JRF empowers children, youth, women, and families with programs centred on protection, essential life skills, positive parenting practices, and family dynamics. These efforts are carried out through a holistic and integrated approach designed to prevent violence while providing specialised intervention services. //Petra// AK
