Amman, November 19 (Petra) -- The Airport International Group (AIG) announced on Tuesday that Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA) welcomed 675,209 passengers in October, marking an 8.6% decrease compared to the same month in 2023.

The airport recorded 5,486 aircraft movements and handled 6,021 tons of air cargo during the month, reflecting a decline of 16.2% and 7.3%, respectively, compared to October 2023.

Since the beginning of the year, QAIA has served 4,658,027 passengers, a decrease of 6.6%. The airport recorded 62,111 aircraft movements, down 6.9%, while handling 63,774 tons of air cargo, an increase of 16.1% compared to the same period in 2023.

AIG CEO Nicolas De Villiers reaffirmed the group's commitment to establishing Queen Alia International Airport as a model of excellence, where every passenger feels welcome, despite the ongoing regional tensions that have impacted airport operations, particularly in Gaza and Lebanon.

"We continue to strengthen our partnerships with airlines and expand our destination offerings to ensure every passenger enjoys a comfortable and welcoming journey," De Villiers said. "At the same time, we remain adaptable to changing circumstances and focused on enhancing the passenger experience while maintaining the airport's position as Jordan's primary gateway to the world."
