9/ Agreement Signed to Expand Needle Craft Facility in Mafraq

Amman, Nov. 17 (Petra) -- The Ministry of Labor has signed an agreement to expand the production facility of Needle Craft in the Mughayr Al-Sarhan area of Mafraq, aiming to double the workforce from 250 to 500 employees.

The agreement, part of royal initiatives and following a recent visit by Prime Minister Jaafar Hassan, was signed in cooperation with the Vocational and Technical Skills Development Commission and Sarhan Municipality. Needle Craft, Jordan's second-largest apparel exporter, operates two branches in Mafraq, with the Mughayr Al-Sarhan facility set to benefit from this expansion.

Under the agreement, Needle Craft will receive financial support of JD 705,000 to cover capital and operational costs. The support includes contributions to construction expenses, infrastructure development, and incentives for hiring local workers.

Since the launch of the royal initiative in 2008, Jordan has established 31 production branches across sectors including garment manufacturing, petrochemicals, and food industries, collectively employing approximately 9,700 Jordanians. The first branch was opened in Al-Shoubak, Ma’an, and five more facilities are currently under construction in Karak, Ma’an, Balqa, and Madaba.

Al-Bakar called on investors to take advantage of the incentives offered by the Ministry of Labor, which include subsidized construction costs, rent-free facilities for three years, and wage support for employees. Investors are eligible for 50% wage subsidies at the minimum wage for one year, in addition to transportation and social security allowances for workers.
The minister reaffirmed Jordan’s commitment to expanding production facilities to boost local employment and strengthen the national economy.
