15/ Jordanian Delegation to Visit UK to Strengthen Trade, Investment Ties

Amman, November 17 (Petra) – A Jordanian economic delegation is set to embark on a working visit to the United Kingdom on Monday to explore trade and investment opportunities between the two nations.

The visit is organized by the Jordanian Businessmen Association and includes representatives from key sectors such as energy, finance, education, tourism, services, contracting, and general trade.

According to a statement issued by the association on Sunday, the multi-day visit aims to foster trade and investment partnerships, promote economic opportunities in Jordan’s value-added sectors, and leverage existing trade agreements between the two countries.

The delegation will hold meetings with business leaders across London, Scotland, and Wales. Additionally, the visit will feature the signing of memoranda of understanding with chambers of commerce to strengthen economic, investment, and trade relations.

Hamdi Tabbaa, the association's chairperson, stated that the visit seeks to boost economic ties by highlighting investment opportunities in industrial, service, and commercial sectors, increasing bilateral trade, and enhancing Jordanian exports to the British market. He also emphasized the importance of advancing tourism cooperation to reinforce cultural and economic links.

Tabbaa added that partnerships with universities and educational institutions are a key focus, aiming to enhance research, development, and knowledge exchange in fields such as modern technology and innovation.

Director General Tariq Hijazi underscored the importance of promoting Jordan as a destination for investment under current circumstances, noting that attracting new investments will bolster the national economy and create job opportunities for Jordanians.

Trade figures from the Department of Statistics revealed that the total trade exchange between Jordan and the United Kingdom during the first eight months of this year reached JD193 million, with JD37 million accounted for by Jordanian exports.
