Amman, November 17 (Petra) – The Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (TRC) is set to host the eighth roundtable event for Arab governments and regulatory bodies next Tuesday, focusing on enhancing Internet infrastructure and governance in the Arab world. In a statement released on Sunday, the TRC noted that the event, organized in collaboration with RIPE NCC, will be held under the theme "Enhancing the Internet Infrastructure and Governance for a Flexible Digital Future in Arab Countries." The event will gather representatives from several Arab regulatory authorities. The roundtable will include discussions on the outcomes of the seventh Dubai Government Roundtable, alongside presentations of key statistics, challenges, opportunities, and achievements in Internet infrastructure, security, and resilience across Arab nations in the Middle East. Participants will review joint initiatives led by RIPE NCC, regulatory bodies, the Arab League, the Arab Internet Task Force, and the Arab Regional Office of the International Telecommunication Union. These initiatives aim to enhance and protect Internet infrastructure, develop governance frameworks, and address public policy challenges, enabling Arab countries to secure a significant position on the global digital landscape. Chairperson of the Board of Commissioners of the TRC, Bassam Sarhan, highlighted that Jordan’s hosting of the event underscores its pivotal role at the Arab, regional, and international levels in regulatory and communications affairs. He added that the roundtable will foster Arab cooperation, strengthen regulatory ties, and promote unified understandings with international organizations on critical communication sector issues. //Petra// AJ
