Beirut, November 15 (Petra) -- Israeli warplanes killed on Friday 16 people and injured several in strikes across the country, according to security officials.

A Lebanese security source told the Petra correspondent in Beirut that 15 people were killed and a large number were injured in an Israeli raid on the
Almat town in Jbeil, east of Beirut, while a Lebanese was killed in an Israeli raid that targeted an ambulance on the Deir al-Zahrani highway in the south.

Destructive raids were also recorded on the areas of Al-Aishiyeh, Al-Rayhan, Hanin, Jawiya, and Naqoura, as well as artillery shelling on the city of Khiam and the dropping of phosphorous bombs on the outskirts of the town of Al-Bazouriyeh.

The General Directorate of Civi Defence stated that specialised search and rescue teams removed the rubble at the site of the Israeli raid that targeted the Baalbek Regional Centre for Civil Defence in the town of Douris.

According to the final results of the search operations, the bodies and remains of 14 people were recovered, while the wounded are still receiving medical care at Baalbek Regional Hospital.
