4/ Pilot Launch of Interactive National Data Center Set for Coming Weeks

Amman, July 23 (Petra) -- Director General of the Department of Statistics, Haidar Fraihat, has announced the upcoming pilot launch of the Interactive National Data Center, with a full launch anticipated by mid-next year. The initiative is part of a broader economic reform strategy aimed at enhancing public access to statistical data.

In a press briefing held on Monday evening, Fraihat outlined that the Interactive National Data Center is designed to provide intelligent and accessible data solutions to the public. The project, embedded within the government's public sector development plan, seeks to advance technology to broaden data accessibility and incorporate sophisticated mathematical and statistical models for in-depth data analysis by researchers.

He also revealed that the national population and housing census for 2025 will commence this year, proceeding through six phases until 2026. The census will involve an actual enumeration of the population in October 2025, targeting approximately 2.5 million households across Jordan, including both Jordanians and non-Jordanians.

Technology will play a pivotal role in the census, he added, facilitating tasks from household listing to data collection and real-time comparison with existing databases. The integration of technology is expected to reduce data entry time by six months and enhance data validation during the enumeration process.

Additionally, Fraihat provided an update on the Aqaba census, which was completed last month. This census covered residents, housing, facilities, and farms, with results to be announced in a joint press conference with the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority later this year. He also noted the completion of the fieldwork for the Syrian refugee camps' general census, conducted in collaboration with the Ministry of Interior.

He also confirmed that the National Statistics Strategy has been finalized, including the deployment of Department of Statistics representatives in various statistical data-producing agencies. This initiative aims to enhance data quality and provide precise information to support decision-making processes.

The department continues to conduct regular monthly surveys covering inflation, foreign trade, industrial prices, production quantities, building permits, and other metrics.
