34/ Jordan has made significant achievements in digital transformation, says minister

Amman, July 23 (Petra) -- Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship Ahmad Hanandeh said that Jordan has made significant achievements in the ICT sector despite its limited resources, thanks to royal support.

Hanandeh made his remarks in a meeting with representatives of media outlets titled "Entrepreneurship and Digital Transformation in Jordan" within the Government Communication Forum organized by the Ministry of Government Communications. The meeting was attended by Minister of Government Communications and Government Spokesperson Muhannad Mubaidin.

According to Hanandeh, the ministry unveiled its strategy in 2021. It addresses the processes of digital transformation, as well as associated initiatives and programs for all state institutions and everything the private sector needs to stay up with digital advancements.
He stated that the world is undergoing a rapid transition in technology and digital transformation, necessitating Jordan's ability to keep up and improve its digital capabilities in terms of infrastructure, services, legislation, data, government resources, and systems, which is the basis for this strategy.
Hanandeh said that the strategy includes several pillars, including infrastructure, which requires keeping abreast of everything new and evaluating and updating the infrastructure supporting digital transformation, as Jordan relies in its strategy on centralizing the common infrastructure in all institutions, which contributed to saving at least JD120 million of operational and capital expenses until the end of last year, and helped control data, protect this ecosystem, raise its quality, and optimize the use of resources in a simpler and easier way.
He pointed to the procedures and services pillar, where the number of digitized services reached about 1250, representing more than 50 percent of the total government services. He projected that more than 60 percent will be digitized and most services of interest to citizens will be covered by the end of the year.
