Amman, July 22 (Petra) -- The Ministry of Health, in partnership with the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship and with funding from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), has launched 31 online services for issuing professional practice permits for health sector workers.

In a press release on Monday, the Ministry of Health announced that this service rollout is the first phase of a comprehensive initiative to introduce 63 online services. This project aims to facilitate continuous professional development and streamline the licensing and re-licensing process for healthcare professionals.

The new service allows Jordanian healthcare workers to obtain practice permits for 31 professions electronically. These services can be accessed through the electronic services portal on the Ministry of Health's website (www.moh.gov.jo) or via the direct link: https://eservices.moh.gov.jo/auth/login?returnTo=%2Fdashboard

The professions covered by these new services include intern doctor, general physician, registered nurse, associate nurse, licensed midwife, pharmacist, pharmacy assistant, intern dentist, dentist, dietitian, physical therapist, assistant physical therapist, anesthesiologist, dental health guide, audiologist, audiology specialist, assistant audiologist, speech therapist, speech therapy technician, dental technician, assistant dental technician, occupational therapy assistant, occupational therapist, eye examination and preparation of medical glasses and contact lenses, eye examination, preparation of medical glasses, eye examination and preparation of medical glasses, eye examination and fitting of contact lenses, prosthetics and orthotics technician, assistant prosthetics and orthotics technician, and nutrition technician.

Minister of Health Dr. Firas Al-Hawari stated that the new electronic system, upon completion of its second phase, will eliminate the need for health professionals to visit multiple institutions, including the ministry’s central office, to obtain or renew practice permits in person. The new system allows them to complete the entire licensing process electronically, saving them time and effort.

Dr. Al-Hawari further explained that the second phase of the system will include the digitization of practice permits for non-Jordanians and will cover licensing, re-licensing, and continuous professional development services.

The system was developed by the Ministry of Health in collaboration with the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, with the participation of several ministries, government institutions, the Royal Medical Services, health councils, associations, unions, and various health organizations. The implementation of the system was funded by USAID.

Dr. Al-Hawari emphasized that this collaboration between institutions serves as a successful model for achieving shared goals through coordination with all partners and aligns with Jordan's digital strategy and Economic Modernisation Vision.
