New York, Dec. 18 (Petra) – The United Nations spokesperson announced that UN Secretary-General Ant?nio Guterres will participate in the conference on resolving the the Question of Palestine in June.

The General Assembly decided on September 18 to hold a "High-level International Conference for the Peaceful Settlement of the Question of Palestine and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution" in June.

In this context, the UN spokesperson, Stéphane Dujarric, stated that the Secretary-General will participate in the opening session of the conference, reaffirming his readiness to support the event as necessary to ensure its success.

He explained that "the region urgently needs irreversible action to enable the parties to re-engage in the long-awaited political path towards ending the occupation and resolving the conflict."

He emphasized that this should happen in accordance with international law, relevant UN resolutions, and bilateral agreements, aiming to achieve the two-state solution Israel and a viable, democratic, independent, and sovereign Palestinian state, living side by side in peace.
