30/ Tourism Ministry lights up Christmas tree in Madaba
Madaba, Dec. 18 (Petra) – The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities lit up the Christmas tree in the heart of Madaba (southwest of Amman) on Wednesday in a grand ceremony attended by a large number of officials and residents. "Our celebrations carry profound meanings of peace and love, reflecting Madaba as a city of tolerance and coexistence. This occasion is more than a festive event; it is a message that illuminates our hearts and unites us around our shared values, embodying the essence of our beloved nation," said Mayor of Greater Madaba Municipality, Arif Rawajih, who represented Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Lina Annab at the event. He added that Jordan exemplifies unity and coexistence, characterized by values of love, goodwill, and peace, expressing solidarity with the people of Palestine, especially in Jerusalem and Gaza, who endure the suffering of aggression and occupation. Rawajih highlighted the significant efforts of His Majesty King Abdullah in safeguarding and supporting Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem. Chairman of Madaba’s Provincial Council, Salem Hrout, extended heartfelt congratulations to Christian communities, saying, "With the advent of the blessed Christmas season, we send our warmest greetings and best wishes to our Christian brothers and sisters in this time of joy and peace." Father Yousef Hamarneh said, "Here in Madaba, our hearts come together as one family in a chapter of tolerance and mutual respect."
