48/ JAF Directorate of Women Affairs holds Gender Ambassadors workshop

Amman, Dec. 17 (Petra) – The Directorate of Women Affairs at the Jordan Armed Forces (JAF) - Arab Army held a Gender Ambassadors workshop on Tuesday. The event was attended by JAF's Assistant for Administration and Manpower.

The workshop aimed to extend the partnership agreement between JAF and UN Women, in addition to announcing the names of the JAF Gender Ambassadors. This initiative is part of implementing the JAF Gender Integration Strategy 2021–2024.

Head of the Directorate of Women Affairs stated: "Women in the armed forces are being qualified to meet leadership and operational requirements in various fields. They are also enrolled in courses that enrich their military careers and enable them to hold leadership positions."

She noted that military women have received significant attention from the JAF General Command regarding training, qualification, and empowerment across all domains.

The UN Women Representative in Jordan said: "The collaboration with the Jordan Armed Forces marks significant progress in integrating gender-sensitive strategies across military and security sectors, especially through the implementation of the Gender Integration Strategy. This approach promotes inclusivity and strengthens peace-building efforts."

Meanwhile, UN Women’s Programs Director, Iman Hourani, said: "Striving for gender equality is both an international legal obligation and essential for achieving national development goals. A society built on justice and gender equality is a more secure society that respects the rule of law. Integrating a gender perspective is fundamental to protecting rights in the workplace."
