41/ Government Communication Minister announces Cabinet decisions in Zaraq, 1st add

The Cabinet further approved the Energy and Minerals Regulatory Commission's (EMRC) decision to grant a mining license for gypsum to Saraya Mining Company in the Azraq area of Zarqa, covering an area of approximately 400 dunams. The mining license will be subject to any future amendments or decisions issued by the Cabinet to ensure proper implementation, rehabilitation of mining areas, and a fair and rewarding return to the state treasury.

At the beginning of the press conference, Minister Momani emphasized the government's commitment to holding monthly Cabinet sessions in the governorates. He noted that Zarqa is the third governorate to host such a session, following Karak and Irbid, with plans to extend these sessions to all governorates across the Kingdom.

During the conference, Momani presented the developmental projects for Zarqa discussed in the Cabinet session before elected councils and civil society institutions in the governorate. He highlighted that the government’s development plans aim to create job opportunities, enhance the investment environment, and positively impact local communities, aligning with the implementation of the Economic Modernization Vision.

Momani stressed that the government would not make promises it cannot fulfill, stating that the developmental projects announced for Zarqa have specific timelines for implementation and allocated budgets.

He also praised the diversity and professionalism of the national media landscape, particularly in Zarqa, which is home to distinguished journalists, media institutions, and radio stations that professionally address local issues.

Regarding other Cabinet decisions, Momani noted the approval of a plan to purchase wheat and barley to strengthen food security and the strategic stockpile of essential commodities.

According to the plan, the strategic stockpile of wheat will suffice for 10 months, considering the expected consumption for 2025, estimated at 1.14 million tons. Meanwhile, the strategic stockpile of barley will cover 8 months, with an anticipated consumption of approximately 1.02 million tons for 2025.
