25/ Senate Legal Committee meets anti-graft commission head

Amman, Dec 17 (Petra) -- Integrity and Anti-Corruption Commission (IACC) Chairman Muhannad Hijazi briefed the Senate's Legal Committee on Tuesday on the agency's efforts to promote transparency in combating graft in public institutions.

Hijazi presented key areas in the commission's efforts, which, he said, are reflected in international anti-graft indicators as Jordan ranked fourth in the Arab region in this field.

He spoke of the need for administrative independence of the Commission, due to the nature of its work in terms of confidentiality and speed, as well as the need for skilled and competent cadres, particularly in digital transformation and forensic financial auditing.

Hijazi said the IACC is working to enhance cooperation with concerned bodies to devise policies and procedures to ensure integrity, foremost of which is expanded awareness meetings on integrity standards, i.e. equal opportunity, transparency and governance.

Chairman of the Senate Legal Committee Ahmad Tbishat said today's meeting underlined coordination between legislative, executive and oversight bodies to enhance transparency standards.
