50/ Irbid Governor refers individual to Public Prosecution for burning agricultural waste
Irbid, Dec. 16 (Petra) – Irbid Governor Radwan Al-Atoum referred on Monday the individual responsible for igniting a fire in agricultural waste containing sulfur residues to the public prosecution in preparation for taking the necessary legal actions against him. Al-Atoum told the Jordan News Agency (Petra) that administrative measures would be taken against the individual to prevent the recurrence of such incidents, which impact public health and the environment. The Irbid Health and Safety Committee, the Civil Defense Directorate, and the Environmental Police tracked the source of a sulfur-like smell that spread in Irbid's atmosphere on Sunday evening. It was found that the smell originated from a non-Jordanian farmer who had burned tomato seedlings saturated with sulfur in the area east of Sareeh, near the grain silos. //Petra// AF
