38/ PDTRA chief meets representatives of inbound tourism agencies
Amman, Dec. 16 (Petra) – Commissioner of the Petra Development and Tourism Region Authority (PDTRA) Faris Briezat met on Monday with representatives of inbound tourism agencies in Jordan to discuss plans for enhancing the Petra archaeological site and advancing tourism services in the city. The meeting, organized in collaboration with the USAID-funded Tourism and Innovation Support Program, underscored the importance of partnerships between PDTRA and tourism agencies to achieve sustainable and comprehensive development in Petra. Briezat highlighted these collaborations as key to enriching the visitor experience and cementing Petra's position as a premier global tourist destination. Briezat outlined the PDTRA's future plans, which include upgrading infrastructure, transportation, and tourism services, expanding visitor facilities and offerings, and strengthening efforts to protect and conserve the archaeological site. He also reviewed PDTRA’s achievements, such as regulating activities within the archaeological site to uphold the rule of law, removing violations and improving tourist facilities, implementing projects to safeguard the area's cultural and natural heritage, enhancing visitor safety measures, and offering advanced guidance services to ensure a secure and enjoyable experience for all.
