27/ Tourism Revenue Down 3.1% in 2024, Expat, Arab Tourism Increase

Amman, December 16 (Petra) -- Jordan's tourism sector recorded $6.7 billion in revenue during the first eleven months of 2024, marking a 3.1 percent decline from the corresponding period in 2023, the Central Bank of Jordan reported today.
The downturn coincides with a 4.9 percent decrease in overall visitor numbers, though the sector showed resilience in specific market segments.

Notably, revenue from Jordanian expatriate visitors increased by 7.4 percent, while earnings from Arab tourists rose by 12.5 percent.
However, significant declines were observed in revenues from other key markets, with European tourism revenue falling by 55.4 percent, American by 37.4 percent, and other nationalities by 17.8 percent.
The data also indicates an uptick in outbound tourism expenditure, with Jordanian spending abroad reaching $1.8 billion, representing a 3.3 percent increase over the previous year.
