28/ Shboul: Arab draft resolution to find agreements with social media mega companies
Amman, Sept. 29 (Petra)-- State Minister for Media Affairs Faisal Shboul said that an Arab draft resolution to find agreements with social media mega companies has been put in place during the 52nd ordinary session of the Arab Ministers of Media hosted in Cairo. In a phone interview with Al Mamlakah TV channel, Shboul added that Jordan stance in this regard focused on two basic issues when contracting with social media, including moving collectively to achieve the best conditions with these companies, following the example of a democratic experience, such as the European and avoiding media blockades. He said that social media companies impose media blockades against content supporting the Palestinian cause. Shboul reiterated that such draft resolution is not related to restricting freedom of speech, but rather ensures that basic religious and national issues, as well as the Palestinian cause, are not affected, based on the experiences of European and other successful countries with these companies. Responding to a question on the continuity of enforcing the Defense Orders, Shboul said that the Defense Order has been activated in many countries of the world to confront the Corona pandemic, and the pandemic is not over yet. //Petra// MF
