9/ Drugs seized in special needs center serve medical treatment-Ministry

Amman, Oct. 6 (Petra)-Ministry of Social Development announced it has been carrying out periodic trips since September 2021, on government, private and voluntary centers concerned with providing care to persons with disabilities to monitor drugs dispensed to beneficiaries.

Monitoring campaigns are implemented, in partnership with Ministry of Health, Higher Council for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (HCD), and Jordan Food and Drug Administration (JFDA), the ministry added to "Petra" on Thursday.

In a disbility center this week, the ministry said 28 types of medicine were found dispensed per medical prescriptions, with a number of 4,718 excess pills, including 5 types of listed dangerous drugs, totaling 1, 333 tablets.

The total number of beneficiaries, who already received medicines, stands at 76 patients, out of 107 at a monthly rate of up to 1,000 pills, per medical prescriptions, the ministry noted.

Based on the committee's report, Minister of Social Development decided to arrest a number of concerned officials and formed an investigation team to investigate the case.

On September 26, 2021, the minister launched teams to carry out field visits to disbility centers to monitor drugs dispensed to beneficiaries at Jordan's governmental and private disability facilities, asking institutions to submit a report within 72 hours.
