8/ ACI sees 51pct increase in exports in first 9 months of 2022
Amman, Oct. 5 (Petra) -- The exports of the Amman Chamber of Industry (ACI) climbed to JD5.461 billion in the first nine months of 2022, up 51 percent from JD3.619 billion in the same period of 2021. The majority of industrial sectors saw an increase in exports, ranging from 1 percent for the therapeutic and medical supplies sector to 94 percent for the mining industries, according to ACI data released on Wednesday. According to the statistics, ACI's exports will reach an all-time high this year, demonstrating the Jordanian industry's ability to overcome difficulties and challenges. Jordan’s industrial exports reach 142 markets across the world, producing 1,400 various commodities and employing 254,000 workers. During the January-September period, the United States, India, Saudi Arabia, and Iraq imported JD2.810 billion in ACI exports, accounting for more than half of total exports. Exports were distributed as JD1.833 billion for the mining industries, JD1.160 billion for chemicals and cosmetics, and JD673 million for the engineering, electricity and IT sectors. Exports from the hospitality, food, agriculture, and livestock sectors totaled JD524 million, while those from the pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors brought in JD438 million, leather and embroidery JD347 million, and packaging, paper, cardboard, and office supplies JD212 million. JD192 million went to the plastic and rubber industries, JD67 million to the construction sector, and JD15 million to the wood and furniture industries. Established in 1962, the ACI now has some 8,600 industrial facilities as members with a total capital of JD5 billion, employing around 159,000 workers. //Petra// RZ
