Amman, Oct. 2 (Petra) -Chairman of Private Hospitals Association (PHA), Fawzi Hammouri, presented investment opportunities in Jordan's health and hospital sector and investment environment that made the private hospital sector a "key" economic industry.

According to a PHA statement on Sunday, his remarks came at Jordan-Kurdistan Investment Forum, organized by Jordanian Businessmen Association (JBA), in cooperation with Kurdistan Investors Union and Jordan's ministries of investment and foreign affairs.

Hammouri said number of Jordan's private hospitals reached 71, with an investment volume exceeding JD4 billion and employs more than 35,000 employees directly and more than 60,000 workers indirectly.

Jordan, he noted, occupies an "advanced" position in the world's health sector and has become the first treatment destination in the region, he noted.

During the pandemic, he said Jordan was the first country to receive Arab patients and launched "Salamatak" platform, a digital network for services, which has an "important" role in facilitating Iraqi patients' procedures.

Jordan, he noted, is characterized by "distinguished" health workers in "large" numbers, and quality services provided at competitive prices, which helped win Best Medical Tourism Destination Award in 2014 and presidency of Global Healthcare Travel Council in 2015.

On Jordan's medical destinations, he said the Dead Sea is the "largest" natural health resort in the world, due to its therapeutic advantages for many diseases.

Reviewing PHA's role in enhancing the existing cooperation between Jordan and Iraq, he said: " Great opportunities exist between the two sides' health sectors by establishing partnerships between hospitals and medical centers in Jordan and Kudisatn, training medical staff and exchanging expertise."

Hammouri invited attendees to participate in International Healthcare Travel Forum 2022, the world's largest medical tourism event, which is organized by PHA from November 19-21.
