For his part, President of Kudistan Diwan of Council of Ministers, Umed Sabah Othman, stressed the "deep-rooted" Jordan-Kurdistan relations in various fields, highlighting the need to expand political, social and security ties to cover commercial, economic and investment areas. Referring to an invitation made by Kudistan Prime Minister, Massoud Barzani, to hold a joint trade conference with Jordan in Erbil, he noted Kurdistan's private sector is a "pivotal" partner for the government and a key partner to reform process. Kurdistan, he said, has a package of legislation supporting investment and commercial environment, expressing desire to benefit from Jordan's expertise in diversifying strategic, medium and small economic enterprises and mechanisms to empower its markets Othman called on Jordanian traders, investors and businesspeople to visit Kurdistan and build partnership relations with its private sector due to priviliges and incentives that treat foreign and local investors alike and its "promising" opportunities. 108 Jordanian companies have established branches in Kurdistan region, he said, calling on expanding investment and launching joint projects. Meanwhile, head of Kurdistan Board of Investment, Mohammad Shukri, called on transferring expertise of Jordanian pharmaceutical industry to the Iraqi region and establishing Jordanian pharmaceutical factories and harnessing Jordan's expertise in building industrial estates, as the Iraqi market is "promising" in this field. Dara Khayyat, President of Kudistan Chamber of Commerce, stressed the importance of the meeting in enhancing and expanding relations between the two sides, in various economic fields, especially as the private sector has suffered from Covid-19 pandemic-induced repercussions. Head of Kurdistan Region Investors Union, Ahmed Rikany, said trader and investor share the same interests and play complimentary role in cooperation with manufacturing sides. //Petra// AG End
